The World Health Organization ranks allergies as the fourth most widespread disease worldwide. Skin is the primary site of allergic manifestations, with certain skin types more vulnerable to external aggressors such as dryness, chemicals, pollution and the sun. To the rescue: La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra ($34.95). Fifteen years in the making, it was specifically created for sensitive and intolerant skin types, designed to repair and offer daily care to reduce signs of skin reactivity. Toleriane Ultra relies on a calming agent called neurosensine, and contains no preservatives, parabens, fragrance, alcohol, lanolin or colorants. As the product is for extremely sensitive skin, the packaging is constructed to keep out air and contaminants. The patented package is constructed from 16 pieces, 15 of which are used just for the pump, which includes a hermetic tip seal, three anti-contamination valves, and a retractable pouch.
